In Game Over the audience is invited to step in and to take the control in their hands. How far are you willing to go? The participatory installation Game Over explores the ambivalences of global drone warfare. The distinction between perpetrators and accomplices, spectators and eyewitnesses, cowards and heroes becomes as blurred as the line between fiction and reality. Game Over brings a complex and highly topical theme to the stage, to create awareness and a space for dialogue and reflection on the big questions of war and peace. At the core of Game Over is the reconstruction of the military experience of gamified killing. As witnesses both on screen and in real life, the audience uncovers analogies between drone warfare and Ego-shooter games. This project encourages the audience to recognize their own responsibility for their actions and decisions and offers insights into the psychology of the perpetrators. “If perpetrators are normal people like you and me, that also means that you and I can also become perpetrators.”– Harald Welzer, social psychologist Game Over combines art and war, computer games and theater, to create empathy through an artistic-social experiment in which you decide how far you can go. A new work exploring auditory hyperreality thereby questioning our sense of reality. Misha and Aengus invites you to listen closely, premiering their composition, specially crafted for the 4D system on the 18th of April 2024 in Amsterdam. Aengus Havinga began developing his artistic language early in life. Growing up in various parts of Europe he was surrounded by a variety of parallel cultures. And thanks to his fathers obsession with electronic music and his mothers obsession with dance, Aengus is able to experience music within various forms. He learned to play some piano as a teenager visiting some classic, emo pop and indie rock, but quickly gravitated to teaching himself music production with a midi keyboard and laptop. In his lowkey home studio Aengus channels his wide range of interest and incorporates it in his personal sound in developing an own signature. Misha Douglas MacLaren is an Audio-Visual artist, Music producer, Microtuner, DJ &amp; Vinyl enthusiast. Grown up and based in Amsterdam, his work combines installation-, visual- and spatial art with music. But also organizing events, shows and distributing vinyl. Misha is deeply influenced by the interaction between the physical and psychological world. His goal is to express this within the intimacy &amp; mystery of what electronic music and technology can bring. He travels towards a plane where every element is equally as important to embody the emotion. Centraal staat de vraag: hoe worden bewoners betrokken bij en meegenomen in de grootse plannen van de stad voor een aardgasvrije toekomst? Wat hebben zij gemeen? Ze zijn allevier bewoner van Het Appartementencomplex, waar besloten is dat de flat van ‘t gas afgaat. Maar zo snel gaat dat niet, eerst moeten ze toestemming geven aan hun woningbouwcorporatie. En dat doen ze niet zomaar. Het publiek leeft mee met de verhalen van de bewoners van het complex, de woningbouwcorporatie en de gemeente. Allemaal stuiten zij op obstakels: een gebrek aan vertrouwen, deuren die niet open gaan en de naderende deadline. In 2040 wil Amsterdam aardgasvrij zijn, maar gaan we het op dit tempo en met grotendeels stadswarmte wel halen? Zij denken dat we hier makkelijk in meegaan. Als ik eerlijk ben, denk ik zelfs dat ze helemaal niet aan ons gedacht hebben in hun energieplannen. Nee, wij moeten hun plannen maar gewoon volgen. Want we mogen blij zijn dat we hier überhaupt mogen wonen. – Het Appartementencomplex Live Journalism De redactie van Live Journalism heeft samen met AT5 de complexe uitdagingen binnen de energietransitie van Amsterdam grondig onderzocht. Deze avond presenteert de onderzoeksredactie hun bevindingen als een theaterstuk. Na de voorstelling is er een nagesprek plaats. Dit onderzoek werd gedaan in samenwerking met onderzoekscollectief Spot On Stories, zij onderzochten de energietransitie in Brabant, de voorstelling speelt daar ook. Europeans are currently experiencing a crisis of imagination. ‘It has become easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism’– Frederic Jameson. In an attempt to shift perspective, Studio Julian Hetzel invites a group of ‘alternative’ experts to engage in a series of dialogues that open up new pathways to escape the status quo. The Land of Plenty is a utopia where everyone’s needs are fulfilled. To enter, one has to eat through a thick layer of rice pudding. Who’s given a spoon? Where does hope lie when the land of plenty isn’t designed for you to enter? Over four days of interviews between experts and invited guests, speakers of the forum, audience members and potentially also with you, a choir is being formed. The multitude of voices creates a temporary snapshot of the socio-economic aspects of coexisting in the land of plenty.
